"The only person you're going to disappoint is yourself"
This quote is motivating, but how long until after that is said until the first person becomes disappointed? Right now I feel that I have disappointed some people because I don't have a job yet. Trust me, I am applying like crazy. There is literally only so much I can do once I send my application, resume, and cover letter. What else can I do? Yes I can do a follow up e-mail or phone call, but I cannot do more than that. I can't sit in on whoever goes through those files and pull mine out and be like hire this one.
I also loved the remark, "So now that you're graduated you're just sit around all day?" That was really motivating and touching. After that was said I really just wanted to jump right into the world of applications and resumes. It might have been said jokingly or out of love, but it hurt. Give me some time, graduation was seriously less than 24 hours ago. (Or at least from when that was said to me)
I promise you I don't vent this whole post.
Applying and interviewing for jobs is emotionally draining. You're in competition with thousands of other applicants and you should feel lucky if your application/resume gets looked at for more than 5 seconds. I feel like you have a better chance of meeting your famous idol than landing a dream job. Now, before you go criticizing me, I do not expect to land my dream job right now. Heck, I don't even know if I could describe my dream job to you.
There is a lot more pressure than I thought there was to get on my feet and start my life. Why is everyone else in a rush for my life to begin? Why can I just live the way I have been. Yes I'll get a job. Will it be the job I will have for the rest of my life? No. Will it help me get by? Yes. Everyone just needs to "chillll" and just support me in whatever I choose to do. Don't worry, I'll be okay.
(I wrote the beginning part a few weeks ago)
As of now I took a couple weeks off from applying to jobs. I know, I know "You're not going to get a job without applying." Well I needed to figure some things out.
Like...
I am taking the summer off to figure out what I want to do and where I want to go. I know for some people this isn't the ideal situation. Trust me, I know. I don't WANT to do this, but I feel like this is something I NEED to do. If I could have a job right now and be using my degree to good use I would be.
I haven't spent a summer with my family in two years and to get one last one in will do me really well. If you've been following my blog, you'd know that I am very family oriented. Since I could be ending up anywhere in the coming months I want to get as much family time as I can.
For now I am working at my parent's mom and pop resort and enjoying life in the harbor one more time.
If you have any tips or hints for a recent grad please let me know in the comments!
You are appreciated. You are loved. Those two things you are not told enough.
I don’t see you as often as I used to. That does not mean
that you do not cross my mind every day, multiple times a day. I miss you mom
and I am not afraid to say that. There are days where a phone call does not cut
it. I will admit that leaving school and driving 10 hours to see you sounds
like a good plan. Then, when I call you, you tell me how that just isn’t
realistic. Even though you tell me you miss me too, you know that school is important.
You need to know that you will never and can never be replaced. I've had some great role models in my life and I still do. None of them will ever be as great of a role model as you are. You have shown me that no matter what you do what you have to do. Even if that means packing up everything you own and moving roughly 600 miles away from your hometown and family. I realize now how hard of a move that was on you. I also realize you did that because you had your family's best interest in mind. I don't blame you (or Dad) for that at all. Don't think your hard work goes unnoticed. For you getting up at 4 am every day is like a walk in the park. Doing this isn't your first choice, but you do it because you have to.
I've realized that in these past few years that you are not only a mom to 3 kids and a dog, but you have family all over the world. Thanks to social media, I have seen what a difference you have made in so many lives. Your family stretches beyond the borders of this nation. You have kids in places such as Serbia, Jamaica, Russia, Dominican Republic, Poland, Macedonia, Romania, and Turkey. I'm sure I could name most of them, but I won't because I can't spell in other languages. You have 30 plus non-biological sons and daughters all over the world, living all sorts of incredible lives! That's not to mention all of you non-biological sons and daughters that live here in the states.
Thank you for giving me your unconditional love and support. All those years that you have sat on the bench at basketball games or drove 160 miles to see me swim. Those years you had just as much dedication to my sports as I did. Then there was those times you slept out in the van so I could attend an awkward middle school dance. Mom, you've done so much. How do I ever repay you? As I get older, I realize more and more how much you have done for me and continue to do for me.
I am proud to say that you are my best friend. Over the years you have been my secret keeper, my therapist, my bank :), my biggest fan, my shoulder to cry on, my motivator, my taxi driver, my doctor, and many more. I know I have been your pain in the butt, your headache, the reason for your tears (happy and sad), your mini me, and things in-between.
So I was reading other blogs today I was inspired to do my own Friday Favorites post.
1)HotChocolate. I'm not sure if its the girl in me who like chocolate. Or maybe the weather but lately I've been craving hot chocolate.
2) EarlyMorningShowers. I'm talking, 7 am showers. This is not typical of me. I've been getting up really early recently and just wanted to hop in the shower right away.
3) Hugs. This kind of gets deep though I won't let it but I've been loving hugs lately. So, if I give you a hug don't be afraid to hug back or don't hesitate to hug me. I love the love.
There are those times when you just know people are talking about you, but no one will say it to your face. I don't mean those days when your shirt is inside out or you have toilet paper on your shoe (does that even happen?). I mean when you see and hear people say things about you and you just want them to say it to your face so you can set things straight!
Well, sir or ma'am, those things, those rumors, they're not true. If you see the need to tell people something about me that isn't true in the slightest of bit, please go for it. I will go on living my life as if you have nothing better to do than to talk about me behind my back or right in front of me.
It just frustrates me that I have a moment of weakness and things spread like a wildfire.
So here it goes, I'm going to let you in on a secret of mine. I know I am not the only one who fights this emotion. It's called embarrassment. We've all done things in our life that makes us feel embarrassed. As in, I'm not completely proud of myself for doing so and I will never do it again. Well this keeps biting me in the butt. I'm not going to give away what it was because I am embarrassed. (Note:Nothing illegal, I didn't go streaking, truth or dare wasn't involved, etc.) So this thing, that I did is having its way of being twisted and stretched to make an even worse story than it actually its.
I just want to say for all you readers, I am perfectly happy being single and I love the fact that I am single. I have no intentions on dating anyone. Shoot, there isn't anyone that I have my eyes on. I have found myself happy and content living the life I have. I have friends who make me happier than I have been, I am in the process of finding myself a career that I love, and for the majority of the time I couldn't be at a better place in school right now. So take your little rumor and shove it back into your brain and leave it there.
I know this isn't the first time I've dealt with a rumor and it wont be the last, but what I can tell you is that rumors suck. They make it hard to interact with people and to go about your daily life. All I can tell you and myself is to keep your head up and this will pass. People will forget about it. Those who spread rumors have nothing better to do with their lives and are finding "flaws" in other people's lives to feed on. Just be the best you, you can be.
Don't be afraid to feel the need to talk to someone about it. I am here, I will listen.
I had a crazy Tuesday which cannot go into full detail because, well because I can't. I had meetings and events which included bowling to go to. I was busy from sun up to sun down. Well 11 am to 11 pm. Yay college!
Oh I forgot to mention an exam on Monday which leads to my exam on Wednesday. Not sure how I did on either of them but I only did the best I could do.
Thursday was just as bad as Tuesday by things I cannot go into detail on, but just take my word for it. Let's just say I wasn't pleased on either of those days for things that were out of my control. Went out to the bar to relax and take my mind off things but it just made things worse when I was put into a very uncomfortable situation with people I didn't know and I just wanted to leave. It was one of those times where you just wanted to crawl into your bed and shut the world off.
Friday came and I finished out my class week and heading to the city that will forever hold my heart, Grand Rapids. I went to my grandmother's church's Thanksgiving dinner. I went into a slight food coma and now I'm here writing this.
Enjoy your weekend!
Unfortunately I have no exciting plans. It is all work on projects and homework for me.
1. Making people laugh.
If there is one thing I am good at and one thing I love to do is making people laugh. :)
2. Napping.
Oh my word do I love napping! I could nap anywhere and anytime. Example: I slept through a NASCAR Race.
3. Getting organized.
I do love organizing. I just get in a rut and don't stop me because I just may do the whole house. :) No, not really, but I could.
4. Making a fool of myself.
I am number one when it comes to make a fool of myself. Its sucks, but hey that's life. You either learn from it or make that mistake over again. Let me tell you I've done mistakes more than twice. :)
5. Being helpful.
I love giving out a helpful hand. When ever some needs.. well anything I try my hardest to be there for them.
So I am trying this 30 lists thing. I found one online and I would love one day to make a scrapbook. It's not going to be a blog every day thing, just 30 lists.
To start things off... I am not good at
1. Thinking before I speak. Sometimes I think I need to think before I speak, but as I found on Pinterest I like to be surprised as to what comes out of my mouth as the next person. Is this such a bad thing? I think not. :)
2. Keeping an exercise routine. Don't we all have a hard time?? 3. Saving money. Not to brag or anything I feel as if I am the best one to save money in my family, but sometimes its just so hard! 4. Going with #2. Exercising in general. I am very unmotivated to exercise. I just think of other things to do besides exercising. :P
Oh I am sure there are more, but here's my start. :)
From this moment forward I am going to show my kindness to everyone that I meet. I want to change the way people see me. I do not want to be the one that no one takes seriously. I would like to have at least one person in this world to look up to me.
Here is where this is coming from...
For the record, I do not like being angry. When I get flustered/busy at work and people get in my way or bother me, is when I get angry and start yelling. I do not yell out of anger or hatred. When I am busy that is how I handle things. I know, its not the right way or the best way to handle things. It is just who I am. I am trying to change it, but changing things takes time. Especially when you are trying to change yourself. I am just having a very stressful time right now. I have a lot of stress on me right now. A lot of it comes from seeing what my parents are going through. My parents (pardon my french) get screwed over by a lot of people and it hurts me just as much as it hurts them.
I may be writing this out of hurt or anger, but when I started writing this post I was angry, but when I have come back to it I have made changes and trying to learn from this experience that I had. I believe in myself that I am learning from this, because I am trying to change myself. I am making it a goal of mine to be kind to everyone I meet because you never know what kind of battle they are going through. That phrase is so true. I can tell that not a lot of people live their life this way, because no one knows my battle. My wall that I am trying to climb over.
Here are a few Pinterest quotes that are inspiring me...
Questions about my blog and a few pictures as well.
Where does your blog name come from?
Well I am into photography and cameras have lenses. That's a known fact, but I also choose that name because I wear glasses. I bet you didn't know that tid bit. :)
What inspired to do your blog layout that way?
Well I've said it once and I will say it over and over again because I love the work she did. Bree at The Thing About Joy designed my blog. Yes I have changed a few things here and there, but I have kept it the same for the most part. Please go and visit her! :)
What made you want to start a blog?
No one reason made me start a blog. I wanted a place where I could share a few of my favorite pictures and I wanted a place to share stories about my life. Not many people know what it is like going to college and that's the main reason why I started this blog, but as I continued to blog I never really share stories about going to college.
One interesting fact about you.
I like to take horizontal life pauses. :)
A little update on what I am doing. Working, obviously. Trying to make this summer a summer to remember, but I get stressed out way to easily. I have been working on that. Making friendships that hopefully will last a while. I am starting to read more books. I am three days from being done with the 30 day squat challenge! If you have never heard of that look it up! I will tell you, you will notice a difference in your leg strength almost instantly. Other than all of that I am enjoying life!
Hope you all are having a great start to you week!
Father's Day is this month, take a listen to this song! :)
I have such a crazy schedule that I haven't made much time for me to blog and for that I am extremely sorry. I hope I haven't let anyone down.
I have 4 meetings every week for different organizations. I have classes four days a week 2-3 times a day. Homework on top of all of that. My social life and then my social networking life. It's crazy! I know some of your days may be busier, but for me that is a lot. They are right when they say college is a full time job. Trust me... it is.
I am trying to schedule a time for when I can go back home (9 hours away I should add). I miss my parents, my brother, my doggie, and well my own bed.
Do any of you listen to Jason Mraz? Well if so, or even if not, have you heard the song Details In The Fabric? It's by Jason and I just love it. :) You should give it a listen.
"You gotta keep your head and you can let your hair down"
I all! If you all haven't noticed I haven't been myself lately. Well if you haven't let me tell you.. I have been myself. For this I do apologize.
What has caused all this madness. Well where do I start?
Well let me give you the biggest one..
This summer has been the second worst summer of my existence. What makes you say that? Why is it the second worst summer?
Well I came into this summer thinking.. yes, just finished my first year of college and I survived even if barely. This is going to be a good summer and I can't wait to get my summer bucket list going. Well no that didn't even happen. NONE of it happened. Why is it that second worst? Well the worst summer of my existence is when my parents decided to move up into the UP of Michigan. A from all friends and family. I moved into an unknown land with people I didn't know. Not very good for a shy girl.
I have not seen a single friend of mine this summer.
I have tried to get in contact with some of my friends and not a single one of them wanted to anything with me EVER! I started to think well it must be me, ITS GOT TO BE ME! And I still don't know the answer to that, if it is me or what. :(
There is definitely others, but I am not myself to explain them all to you. What am I going to do to fix this?
Well tomorrow my computer goes off to the laptop hospital to get fixed. :( So for 7-10 business days I will not have my laptop which means I will not be posting any blog post. Again I apologize. SORRY! I hope being away from social media and my laptop I will find myself again.
As for my giveaway that is still going on, don't be shy and still try to win!!! :D I will still get in contact with the winner and let you all know who won! :D I will not let you all down.
As for everyone that I am sponsoring with I will be in contact with you soon, because I need to get something from you. :D
I hope everyone has a great week! :D See you soon! :D
