Applications after Graduation

"The only person you're going to disappoint is yourself"

This quote is motivating, but how long until after that is said until the first person becomes disappointed? Right now I feel that I have disappointed some people because I don't have a job yet. Trust me, I am applying like crazy. There is literally only so much I can do once I send my application, resume, and cover letter. What else can I do? Yes I can do a follow up e-mail or phone call, but I cannot do more than that. I can't sit in on whoever goes through those files and pull mine out and be like hire this one.

I also loved the remark, "So now that you're graduated you're just sit around all day?" That was really motivating and touching. After that was said I really just wanted to jump right into the world of applications and resumes. It might have been said jokingly or out of love, but it hurt. Give me some time, graduation was seriously less than 24 hours ago. (Or at least from when that was said to me)

I promise you I don't vent this whole post.

Applying and interviewing for jobs is emotionally draining. You're in competition with thousands of other applicants and you should feel lucky if your application/resume gets looked at for more than 5 seconds. I feel like you have a better chance of meeting your famous idol than landing a dream job. Now, before you go criticizing me, I do not expect to land my dream job right now. Heck, I don't even know if I could describe my dream job to you.

There is a lot more pressure than I thought there was to get on my feet and start my life. Why is everyone else in a rush for my life to begin? Why can I just live the way I have been. Yes I'll get a job. Will it be the job I will have for the rest of my life? No. Will it help me get by? Yes. Everyone just needs to "chillll" and just support me in whatever I choose to do. Don't worry, I'll be okay.

(I wrote the beginning part a few weeks ago)

As of now I took a couple weeks off from applying to jobs. I know, I know "You're not going to get a job without applying." Well I needed to figure some things out.

Like...

I am taking the summer off to figure out what I want to do and where I want to go. I know for some people this isn't the ideal situation. Trust me, I know. I don't WANT to do this, but I feel like this is something I NEED to do. If I could have a job right now and be using my degree to good use I would be.

I haven't spent a summer with my family in two years and to get one last one in will do me really well. If you've been following my blog, you'd know that I am very family oriented. Since I could be ending up anywhere in the coming months I want to get as much family time as I can.

For now I am working at my parent's mom and pop resort and enjoying life in the harbor one more time.

If you have any tips or hints for a recent grad please let me know in the comments!

Life at 221 and Magnolia

I start my third week at store #221 and my fourth week at Magnolia, both have been great thus far. Although I have crazy hours and there is no sense of routine, the paychecks are nice. I greatly enjoy my coworkers, they have been some of the most welcoming people I have ever met. Always asking me if I am getting the hang of things and if I need anything to never hesitate to ask. The praise and kindness that everyone gives each other is overwhelming at times. It is so wonderful to see people with that much appreciation for each other.

Magnolia has been great, as well. I have the same feeling for this place as I do #221, I feel like I've lived here longer than I have. It's nice only being 4-5 miles from work. It's a quaint neighborhood, quiet, which I like. I will say I cannot wait until school is out because then there wont be so many school buses that go by every morning. Does anyone else realize how loud those things are?

When I was 10 I never thought the day would come when I would start my life back in Grand Rapids. It's finally come and I couldn't be happier. I do miss my family, because as a frequent reader would know, I am a family person. I try to talk to my mom as much as I can, but also knowing that when I talk to her I just get sad because she isn't here with me. Along with my mom, I do miss my dad and brother and Ellie just the same.

I cannot wait to see what this summer brings. I hope that there is adventures and lessons, trials and tribulations, as well as money being made.

I'm living in a booming city, there are photographs to be taken and one of these days I will take them. Ha, haven't we all heard me say that before.

From This Moment

From this moment forward I am going to show my kindness to everyone that I meet.  I want to change the way people see me.  I do not want to be the one that no one takes seriously.  I would like to have at least one person in this world to look up to me.

Here is where this is coming from...

For the record, I do not like being angry.  When I get flustered/busy at work and people get in my way or bother me, is when I get angry and start yelling.  I do not yell out of anger or hatred.  When I am busy that is how I handle things.  I know, its not the right way or the best way to handle things.  It is just who I am. I am trying to change it, but changing things takes time.  Especially when you are trying to change yourself.  I am just having a very stressful time right now.  I have a lot of stress on me right now.  A lot of it comes from seeing what my parents are going through.  My parents (pardon my french) get screwed over by a lot of people and it hurts me just as much as it hurts them.

I may be writing this out of hurt or anger, but when I started writing this post I was angry, but when I have come back to it I have made changes and trying to learn from this experience that I had. I believe in myself that I am learning from this, because I am trying to change myself. I am making it a goal of mine to be kind to everyone I meet because you never know what kind of battle they are going through.  That phrase is so true.  I can tell that not a lot of people live their life this way, because no one knows my battle. My wall that I am trying to climb over.

Here are a few Pinterest quotes that are inspiring me...

Blog/Life/Photo Update

Questions about my blog and a few pictures as well.

Where does your blog name come from?

Well I am into photography and cameras have lenses. That's a known fact, but I also choose that name because I wear glasses. I bet you didn't know that tid bit. :)

What inspired to do your blog layout that way?

Well I've said it once and I will say it over and over again because I love the work she did. Bree at The Thing About Joy designed my blog. Yes I have changed a few things here and there, but I have kept it the same for the most part. Please go and visit her! :)

What made you want to start a blog?

No one reason made me start a blog. I wanted a place where I could share a few of my favorite pictures and I wanted a place to share stories about my life.  Not many people know what it is like going to college and that's the main reason why I started this blog, but as I continued to blog I never really share stories about going to college.

One interesting fact about you.

I like to take horizontal life pauses. :)

A little update on what I am doing.  Working, obviously.  Trying to make this summer a summer to remember, but I get stressed out way to easily. I have been working on that.  Making friendships that hopefully will last a while.  I am starting to read more books. I am three days from being done with the 30 day squat challenge! If you have never heard of that look it up! I will tell you, you will notice a difference in your leg strength almost instantly.  Other than all of that I am enjoying life!

Hope you all are having a great start to you week!

Father's Day is this month, take a listen to this song! :)

Blog Every Day In May.. ended.

If you don't know by now I have given up on blogging every day in May.  I was doing well for a while and then things fell apart and now I just stopped.  Well, that's what happens when I have no motivation.

Since I've last talked with you all I haven't done much.. shocker! :P

Last Wednesday (5/15/13) my mom and I went to a food show in Marquette.  Nothing to special, just all the vendors from Reinhart.  I saw them all last year and this year nothing really popped.  The only thing that I remember is the guy that told us his sales pitch about butter.  This guy was amazing, even though my mom and I were not interested we stood there and listen to him.  He talked about how many calories his butter had and then how much the competitor had.  That's all I remember from his pitch, but bless his heart because he did it. He also gave us a bag of free dry butter! :)

At the food show so many vendors give out free samples. We came home with, dry butter, bun samples, grease cleaner, and table cleaner.

I am becoming addicting to Pinterest again.  Here are some of my favorite pins recently

Other than that I have done a YouTube video about Restaurant Tips here is a link to that video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSNoBX_qGWY.  I hope to make more videos this summer. We'll see what ideas come to my head! Until then you all have a nice day! :)

First Week.

The first week of school was crazy!
  1. Getting into the new routine.
  2. I changed my room around
    • We all need to have change every once in a while and I was just sick of the way my room was. So I had to move every thing around. I am not sure if I like it or not, but it was change. Change is good... to a point.
  3. March Madness
    • I have made plans for March! I am super excited! My sister and I are going to see The Tenderloins in Minneapolis! :) If you do not know who The Tenderloins are; then I wonder if you know who the Impractical Jokers are? Well they are the same people. I tomorrow I will buy the tickets and then all I have to do is wait. Yippee!!
  4. Smoothie
    • I have been looking at food on Pinterest for a long time now and I finally got the motivation to make one. I made a smoothie. It had bananas, strawberry yogurt, milk and peanut butter. Yes it was really good, but the next time I make it I am going to leave the peanut butter out. :)
Here are a couple of my favorite pins from Pinterest.

  1. I love this shirt! I might... just might.. when I get all of my finances in order I may have to order this shirt. :)
  2. Yumm strawberry shortcake trifle. :) How delicious! Making this for a friend for their birthday?
  3. A bride and groom picture. I think this is a sweet idea!
  4. I love everything about this outfit. I will have to find each item, but I love it! :)
  5. This bottles are really cool. I could see these on a coffee table or a center piece.
  6. I really want to make this scarf sometime. I want to make a blanket of all my Ferris shirts and things, but I would love to do one of these as well.
  7. I absolutely adore this dress. I don't know how I would look in it, but it super cute. If I could afford it I may buy it. But ya know finances. :S
I hope everyone has a great week. I didn't have school today, because of Martin Luther King Jr. day! Whoop whoop! :)

My Crazy Hectic Schedule... I Mean Life

I have such a crazy schedule that I haven't made much time for me to blog and for that I am extremely sorry. I hope I haven't let anyone down.

I have 4 meetings every week for different organizations. I have classes four days a week 2-3 times a day. Homework on top of all of that. My social life and then my social networking life. It's crazy! I know some of your days may be busier, but for me that is a lot. They are right when they say college is a full time job. Trust me... it is.

I am trying to schedule a time for when I can go back home (9 hours away I should add). I miss my parents, my brother, my doggie, and well my own bed.

Do any of  you listen to Jason Mraz? Well if so, or even if not, have you heard the song Details In The Fabric? It's by Jason and I just love it. :) You should give it a listen.

"You gotta keep your head and you can let your hair down"
-Andy Grammer

Have a lovely day!

What is up you guys?

I haven't heard from some of you in a while so I just wanted to ask. What has everyone been up to lately? Let me tell you what I have been doing. :)

1. School work.. all the time. Seriously it's pretty much all I do. Sometimes (not lie) I cry at night because I feel like I have not life. Then when I talk to people here in the dorm we are all in the same boat. *Phew*

2. Decorating my room to make it more homely. I just got rope lights to add a little mood lighting so I don't always have to have my big overhead light on at night.

3. I am involved in a couple of RSO's on campus (Registered Student Organizations). So I busy with meetings and doing events and things like that.

4. Being myself. :) Yes I am busy with being myself. Trying to find myself. I always give myself plenty of me time in my room. Whether it is in the morning or at the end of the day or in between I'm always giving myself alone time.

5. I helped set up a blog. :) I a learning newbie (well kinda) herself helped someone set up a blog! You should totally check it out! Unknown Writings They want it to be totally anonymous. Meaning you can send stories to that e-mail and within 24 hours they will have your story put up. :) Check it out and show em some love. Please? :)

That is really all I can think of.
Is anyone else experiencing the AMAZING fall weather?

CHANGE

Just throwing up some random pictures

I've been thinking.

So back in January when I started this blog I had only one thing in mind.. to share my life stories with my future self and to anyone who wanted to read it. Now looking where I stand in the blogging world I am blown away. I only have a small blog with MAYBE 5 posts a week. There is so much more to blogging then I thought. I don't really want to get into the BIG blogging world because (not trying to be mean) I want to live my life instead of sharing my life. Does that make since? I don't want to be worried about having to post something that happened to me and my family or whatever. Its great that others do and you know what I love reading about people's happy adventures in life. I honestly do.

I have met (virtually) some awesome people. Just to name a few.. Alli at Life on LeRoy, Bree at The Thing About Joy, Shane at Whispering Sweet Nothings, and Kirstina City Corporate To Suburb Mama. There are obviously more but those are the ones that are standing out right now. It's great, really this blogging community that I joined was and is absolutely amazing. Why do I love it so much you might wonder.. well because each and every single one of you are just like me. We are all just trying to make it. No seriously. We are all going through the same things.. just like outr neighbor. We all have to get up in the morning and go to work, or watch the kids or something that makes up have to get out of bed. Before blogging I always wanted to know what it was like to live in a different state or even country. NOW I get a little bit of taste anytime I want (pretty much).

I am making some changes here. I hope you all understand where I am coming from with this. In the future it may change, but for now this is how I see things.

I am going to be posting less and I am not LEAVING what so ever, but right now in my life I just want to live it. If something BIG happens or something DRASTIC in my life changes then you'll know. Every now and then I'll do a giveaway or I'll do a life update but start watching for a post maybe 2 times a week or less MAX would be 3 times.

I want to focus on my studies and my life. In the words of my professor "Do what you need to do before you do what you have to do".

Again I hope you all understand. I love blogging and all that jazz, but right now.. it's not number one.

I love you all and hope you all had a great holiday weekend.

Back to blogging and off to college

What!?!? I am blogging? What does this mean. Well folks.. I got my laptop back so I get to tell you all the wonderful things that have happened in the past week or so!

1. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ELLIE ROSE!

As you all know I have a dog named Ellie Rose. I love her so very very much. Yesterday was her one year anniversary in my family! :D So happy anniversary Ellie.

2. I am moving back to college in 2 days! Yes 2 days! I am crazy packing and unpacking and repacking like a maniac. Things I need, things I don't need and things I'm not sure i'll need or not. What do you EXACTLY need when you to school. Does anyone know?

3. I've fallin in love honestly. So there is this boy and he kind of steals my every thought and action and heart. :) Call me crazy, but I am most sad to not see him. Granted my parents and family come first BUT he is defiantly second. No names or anything, because well I'm a young girl falling for a boy.. you understand.. right?

You want me to explain why I think we'd be good together? Okay here I go.
We are both family people. We both believe in God and we both pray. We both LOVE country music. He is single, I am single. (hehe) Should I have not said all of this?

4. Grace! Grace, is doing awesomely! (Is that a word?) She is walking without a walker, well a little bit anyways. In about a week she'll be moving to a rehab only place, where they will be working with her to get better at doing things on her own! :D I am super happy to hear this.

5. Last thing... my blog is getting a makeover soon! I have been working with Bree and The Thing About Joy and it's been great. I cannot wait to share the result with you all.

I leave you with this...

I don't have to be me till Monday!

I all! If you all haven't noticed I haven't been myself lately. Well if you haven't let me tell you.. I have been myself. For this I do apologize.

What has caused all this madness. Well where do I start?
Well let me give you the biggest one..

This summer has been the second worst summer of my existence. What makes you say that? Why is it the second worst summer?
Well I came into this summer thinking.. yes, just finished my first year of college and I survived even if barely. This is going to be a good summer and I can't wait to get my summer bucket list going. Well no that didn't even happen. NONE of it happened. Why is it that second worst? Well the worst summer of my existence is when my parents decided to move up into the UP of Michigan. A from all friends and family. I moved into an unknown land with people I didn't know. Not very good for a shy girl.

I have not seen a single friend of mine this summer.
I have tried to get in contact with some of my friends and not a single one of them wanted to anything with me EVER! I started to think well it must be me, ITS GOT TO BE ME! And I still don't know the answer to that, if it is me or what. :(

There is definitely others, but I am not myself to explain them all to you. What am I going to do to fix this?
Well tomorrow my computer goes off to the laptop hospital to get fixed. :( So for 7-10 business days I will not have my laptop which means I will not be posting any blog post. Again I apologize. SORRY! I hope being away from social media and my laptop I will find myself again.

As for my giveaway that is still going on, don't be shy and still try to win!!! :D I will still get in contact with the winner and let you all know who won! :D I will not let you all down.

As for everyone that I am sponsoring with I will be in contact with you soon, because I need to get something from you. :D

I hope everyone has a great week! :D See you soon! :D
Keep in touch!

How about I spread some happiness?

So I am starting something new. I am going to start my own linkup party! It's going to be about sharing your happy place [or you know, things that make you happy].  I am going to run it every second Wednesday of each month! :) Let's see where this takes us! Please join in?

I am all about smiling and finding things that make ME happy. I have found that to be very difficult.
Reason:
I work with the public and I hate it 95% of the time. People that come into my work are the MOST DIFFICULT to work with. To be honest they aren't the brightest either. Now I want to add that not ALL of them are that way but MOST. Why do people always believe that they are numero uno and I shouldn't pay any mind to anyone else? I could go on and on, but I will stop there.

For the past couple of days I have been thinking that everything that is happening is the worst thing in the world. Probably not the best attitude, but I'll get over it.

Just these past few hours I've sat down and tried to make a list of everything that makes me happy and I want to share a few of those with you. :)

1. My dog Ellie
Yes this crazy dog makes me the happiest person in the world.

2. My Family
At times I will go crazy mad because of this family, but they do make me happy.

3. Being myself
I'm all about being yourself 100% of the time.
4. Friends
I would go insane without my friends.

So now that I've shared a couple of things with you.. how about you share a couple things with me? They could be anything in the world OR the could be exactly what I have. Let me know. :) Link up with me and show everyone! :D
