I've Learned

Enlightened Perspective

I’ve learned … That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.
I’ve learned … That when you’re in love, it shows.
I’ve learned … That just one person saying to me, “You’ve made my day!” makes my day.
I’ve learned … That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.
I’ve learned … That being kind is more important than being right.
I’ve learned … That you should never say no to a gift from a child.
I’ve learned … That I can always pray for someone when I don’t have the strength to help him in some other way.
I’ve learned … That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.
I’ve learned … That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.
I’ve learned … That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.
I’ve learned … That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
I’ve learned … That we should be glad God doesn’t give us everything we ask for.
I’ve learned … That money doesn’t buy class.
I’ve learned … That it’s those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.
I’ve learned … That under everyone’s hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.
I’ve learned … That the Lord didn’t do it all in one day. What makes me think I can?
I’ve learned … That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
I’ve learned … That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.
I’ve learned … That love, not time, heals all wounds.
I’ve learned … That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.
I’ve learned … That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.
I’ve learned … That there’s nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies and feeling their breath on your cheeks.
I’ve learned … That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.
I’ve learned … That life is tough, but I’m tougher.
I’ve learned … That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.
I’ve learned … That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
I’ve learned … That I wish I could have told my Dad that I love him one more time before he passed away.
I’ve learned … That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
I’ve learned … That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
I’ve learned … That I can’t choose how I feel, but I can choose what I do about it.
I’ve learned … That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you’re hooked for life.
I’ve learned … That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.
I’ve learned … That it is best to give advice in only two circumstances; when it is requested and when it is a life-threatening situation.
I’ve learned … That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

Tuesday, Tuesday

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while, but I am been kind of busy. No, not really just lazy. :P I just completed my Tuesday workout. I haven't worked out in a while and boy am I exhausted! I do the Daily Workout Plan by Back On Pointe. It seems to work. I would suggest if you're not in shape that you start off easy because you may be hurting rather than helping when you do these. I am no fitness expert but that's what I experienced. :S

This is my Tuesday workout. I hope everyone enjoyed the warm weather we had for the past few weeks. I know I did. My friend Sammie and I laid out in the sun and colored or my hall and I played volleyball. When the weather is nice like that its hard to not want to stay outside. I had a few professors of mine ask my classes "Did you enjoy summer? Fall has begun and Winter will be here shortly" Ha, some of them think they are so funny.
Another topic change I only have 38 more days of my first semester of college to go! I am so excited, I get to leave here on Wednesday. I don't know If I will but, it's nice to know that it's an option. :)
Happy Tuesday!

My College Experience

4:26:00 PM Natalie S 0 Comments

7 weeks of classes and one week of exams and I will finally be done with my first year of college. I have had so many ups and downs and when I look back on it I think why was a stressing of the little things. One big stress I had was not doing so well in one of my classes. It's not like I am the first and only one to do bad in a class. It's not like I am the only one who is going to change their major to something totally different. I am just trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. Its okay everyone is/will/or has gone through this.

I have met some really amazing people here at Ferris State. Here is a list of few people who I am glad to have met.

Let me first start out with the first person I met on move in day.

Abbey - My Abbey Lou Hoo. I adore her so much. She was my RA, I say was but I really mean is. Even though I moved to the third floor of Clark and have a new RA I still say she is my RA. I love her. She is very determined and level headed. :) I will definitely miss her next year. If you read this Abbey, you better come visit Clark!!!

Jenny - Oh Jenny, so much to talk about you. Jenny and I go on mock rounds occasionally. Its funny we will just walk to halls of Clark Hall and make sure everything is in running order. We both sit by the front desk and rate the person working the desk. It's interesting the things we and the person working will come up with. Jenny is a Big Rapids native and lives in the dorms. Which still confuses me why she lives here when she can save money and live at home, but what ever floats her boat.

Ted - He's an RA in my building. He's really funny and fun to talk to. Unfortunately he is an senior this year and will be graduating from Ferris State. Congrats Ted. I will miss him. He would be one of the people who Jenny and I love to rate while he is working the desk.

Kevin - Oh yes Kevin. This person is freaking hilarious. He is very witty and good with snappy come backs or whatever you want to call them. I find him being very sarcastic at times... almost every time.

Garrett- Garrett, my buddy. My bestest buddy. I just love this guy. Speechless when it comes to describing him. He is an all around great guy. Beyond thankful that I met him. Don't know what my frist year at college would be like if I hadn't met him.

Last but not least.

My Anna - Anna poo as I like to call you. I actually want to thank you for letting me rant and rave to you. I love that we can go days without talking or anything and then talk like we are old friends that have known each other for years. I love you girl and I wish you the best of luck in what ever you do. ;) Don't forget to write.

So that's it. I know there are more people that I can mention but to be honest that would be a lot of compliments and descriptions on who they are and why I appreciate meeting them and thanking them for inviting me into their lives. So if I forgot to mention you I do apologize and like I said before I appreciate you and thanks for everything. I do mean it.. if I didn't mean it I wouldn't blog about it.

Dr. Seuss can.. can you?

I am super excited to make this project. It's for my aunt and she loves Doctor Seuss. I want to use these quotes:
Dr. Seuss
I want to print them off in a newspaper fashion and paste them in a vintage looking frame.
When I start I hope to post pictures and how I did that.

Ellie. Dear Ellie

9:18:00 AM Natalie S 0 Comments

Ellie is my family's newest member. We got her on the 24th of  August where she was just nine weeks old. The picture below is the her two days after we got her. Such a precious dog. I bought her this tire and rope and well we no longer have that toy.

This picture of her was taken November in 2011. When I came home for a quick weekend. This is probably my favorite picture of her.

This was in March of this year. Ellie and I went snow shoeing and she loved it! I was out there taking picture and she loved running through the woods playing in the snow.

Ellie (Elliephant as i like to call her) is a little boo boo. My gosh she chews up everything. Digs holes like no other and is also a very loving dog. She is also kind of a whimp. She is afraid of cars, other dogs, and anything that makes a loud noise. I realize that it may be just because she is a puppy, but its kind of funny to watch her run from the vacuum or jump away from a car.

Snowshoeing Through the Woods

A few days ago I went snowshoeing with my dog Ellie. I decided to bring my camera along. I am still getting use to my camera and getting to know what it can and cannot do. This is one of my favorite pictures that I took. I'm not really sure why I like it, but I just do.

Copper Dog 150

12:36:00 PM Natalie S 0 Comments

A dog team starting off in Copper Harbor. As you can tell many people came out to see this dogs start off. There were also more people behind me and to the left of me on the other side of the trail.

A really awesome jacket I found on the back of one of their sleds. The paw print is a reflector. Pretty cool  I say.

This dog to me just looked so cold and he was just hanging out at the end of the truck.

Volunteers helping lining up the dogs at the starting gate in Copper Harbor.

These were the trophies that they gave away.

I am very interested in this dog sled race that is held every March in the Copper Country. This year was the third year that it was put on. I love watching everyone coming out to help. Its a great volunteer opportunity. something for everyone. Teams come from all over to compete in this event. From Alaska to Canada and I believe there was one from another country over seas, but don't count me on that. This race is well 150 miles, hence the name. They ride three legs. The first leg is from Calumet to Eagle Harbor on the first day. Day two is from Eagle Harbor to Copper Harbor. Then, yup you guessed it, the last leg is from Copper Harbor to Eagle Harbor.

The mushers, as they are called, are the most laid back, go with the flow people you will ever meet. I couldn't help but thank each of them that came in to the restaurant for their patience and understanding for us being a small town. Their response to that? "Oh, well we thank you all for letting us come in and take over your town for a day!"

So if you are ever in the Copper Country during March.. come check this out!
